Dear Mr Donaldson
I have recently received a communication from the Personal Department informing me that you have now completed over yours service with the Co, and I was interested to note that you joined us as far back as 1945 at the conclusion of World War Ⅱ.
You have obviously seen a great many changes during this time. In recent yours, of course, change has overtaken us all very rapidly especially your own department where the wide use of computers is now commonplace.
Unfortunately, hand in hand with these advances has come the need to reduce the no of company employers. With this in mind the Board of Directors recently made the decision that a compulsory retirement age of 65 must be imposed.
JIM BRAND, your foreman, informs me that it is not your wish to retire. I quite understand your reluctance to do so, but I am sure that, on reflection, you will realize that after so many your of being in haness, you have more than earned the night to take life a little easier from now on.
On behalf of the Board of your colleagues I should like to extend our heartfelt good wishes for a long and happy retirement.
Yours sincerely
Alec Drurnmond
